I assume the viewer has never touched Maya before. Before jumping into Maya I talk about basic modeling conceps, and best ways to breakdown a model in your head so you can model it with ease. I then open Maya with a default workspace and go over basic navigation first.
Then I start going over every tool I use on a daily basis. In my opinion there is no point in learning everything Maya has to offer, you should use a set of tools to define your workflow. I then go over how to model this gun. I do not go over every piece but I teach you the tools you need to model the entire gun. In the 2nd video I have a timelapse of me modeling the entire gun using only the tools we learned in the first video.
